Postal Department has issued a special postal cover which features the picture of Jamia Millia Islamia on the occasion of centenary celebrations. The primary objective for issuing special poster cover is to mark the contribution done by the varsity in the field of education over the years.
The special postal cover has the picture of the varsity which was founded in the year 1920. The special postal cover was released on January 19, 2017, at "Kalindi 2017", a District Level Philately Exhibition which took place at Jamia. Ministry of Communications organised the exhibition. On this occasion, L.N.Sharma, Chief Postmaster General, Delhi Circle addressed the gathering.

The main objective of holding exhibition is to cultivate the habit of stamp collection among the students and to enable cooperation and friendly relations among the postal staff, media, philatelists and philatelic dealers. During the exhibition, the special cover on Jamia which was priced at Rs. 10 was displayed, and other stamps were also displayed.

Stamp collection is one of the rare hobbies among the youth nowadays. The exhibition focused on inculcating the hobby of stamp collection, particularly among the youth. With an objective to attract more students, Ministry of Communications has put some of the old stamps and the special postal cover of Jamia Millia Islamia for sale.
In an another occasion, President of India Pranab Mukherjee indicated that the institutions which were set up by local people have the capability to emerge as the great institutions. He was addressing the getting at the centenary celebrations of one of the oldest schools in West Bengal.
