Jamia Millia Islamia University has taken a decision to admit students through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for only 8 courses for the academic year 2022-23, as stated in The Indian Express. The Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia University expressed that for all the remaining courses, the varsity will have its own entrance examination.
“We will hold entrances of eight courses through the CUET. For the remaining courses, we will hold admissions through our own entrances. Once we hold admissions to these eight courses through CUET, and once we have experience based on these courses, then we will think about what to do for the rest of the courses,” Registrar Nazim Hussain Jafri explained.

The eight courses, which will be held for admissions through CUET, are undergraduate courses. The undergraduate courses include 6 B. A .courses and 2 courses from science and vocational course. The six B.A. (Hons) courses include B.A. in Sanskrit, B.A. in Hindi, B.A. in French and Francophone Studies, B.A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies, B.A. in Economics and B.A. in History. The other two courses are B.Sc Biotechnology and B.Voc (Solar Energy). The decision was taken in a meeting with different departments' Deans to hold admission for these eight courses through CUET 2022.

The PRO of Jamia Millia Islamia University said that the decision was taken in a meeting, which top officials of the university have attended. He further stated that the varsity conveyed to the University Grants Commission the decision to hold admission for 8 undergraduate courses. He expressed that being a central university, they can take such a decision. He further informed that if UGC does not accept the decision taken by the university, then the committee of university officials would meet up again to take the next better decision.
The aspirants of those eight courses are advised to fill in the application form for CUET 2022 and the application form for Jamia University. The official website of the university is provided for the candidate to follow updates and other details and the website is http://www.jmi.ac.in and http://jmicoe.in. The university will continue to conduct its own entrance examination for the other courses. B.Tech aspirants will get admission through JEE score and BDS programme on NEET score.
