Addressing the students at the third convocation ceremony of Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation (University of Lucknow), Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar assured that the Centre would set up a Central University for differently abled students. The central university for disabled students will not only provide quality education but also facilitate disabled (divyang) students to get jobs.
Mr. Javadekar further revealed that the Centre is sensitive towards the interests of differently abled students. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered all the educational institutions to set up elevators and ramps. These facilities will enable the divyang students or children access to a barrier-free education.

Appreciating the inclusive education policy that is followed by Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Mr. Javadekar mentioned that the commendable aspect about the varsity is that both differently abled and normal students study under one roof. The policy followed by the varsity is not only beneficial to disabled students but also normal students who get a chance to learn something new from their counterparts.
Hailing the move taken by the university of replacing western academic gown with indigenous attire for convocation, Mr. Javadekar expressed his happiness. He also lauded the proposal of the varsity to name its auditorium after Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India.

Mr. Javadekar also assured that the Centre would provide financial assistance to the University for installing a Braille Press for printing study material and books for the benefit of visually impaired students.
