JEE Advanced 2022 Student Reviews: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has conducted the JEE Advanced 2022 exam on August 28, 2022 in 2 shifts. Shift 1 was conducted from 9:00 am to 12:pm; while shift 2 was held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This detailed review is based on the review given by FIITJEE Expert. As per the review, the total number of questions in Paper 1 was 54 and total marks was 180.

JEE Advanced 2022 Paper Analysis

The detailed analysis of the JEE Advanced 2022 papers given below is based on the reviews of the candidates

Analysis of JEE Advanced (Paper-1) Morning Session : 9:00 am -12:00 noon

1. Total Marks of Paper 1 was 180 & Duration: 3 hrs
2. The Paper had (54) questions with 18 questions in each subject.
3. The Paper-1 had (03) three parts- Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
4. Max. Marks for each Part was 60.
5. In each part there are Three sections- Sec-I (Max. marks-24), Sec-II (Max. Marks-24), Sec-III (Max. marks-12)
6. Sec-I had (08) Eight questionsof Numerical Based Decimal Typewith answer correct to 2 decimal digits.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 for the correct answer
• Zero Marks: 0 in all other cases

7. Sec-II had (06) Six questions with four options in which ONE OR MORE THAN ONE option(s) were correct.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +4  If only (all)  the correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +2 If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +1 If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen
• Zero Marks:: 0  If none of the options are chosen
• Negative Marks: -2In all other cases

8. Sec-III had (04) Four questions with each question of Match List type i.e. Match List-I to List-II. List-I had 4 questions to be matched to List-II which had 5 options.  One or more than one options were correct.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 in case all options are correct,
• Zero Marks:: 0 if none of the options are chosen
• Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases

Paper-1: Immediate reaction of students :

• Candidates thought the overall level of paper was Moderate to Difficult level but not easy
• Some students were of the opinion that Physics was Moderate, Chemistry was Easy but Maths was trciky and time-consuming
• Chemistry was a balanced section with questions from chapter of 11th & 12th class equally. In Inorganic Chemistry questions were directly from NCERT. In Physical Chemistry questions came from the chapters of Electrochemistry, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure. Thermodynamics (Kinetic Theory Gases). In Organic Chemistry, questions were mostly asked from Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, Oxygen containing Compounds, some named reactions were also asked
• Physics had more than one question from chapters like Rotational Motion- 3 questions, Thermodynamics-2 questions, Modern Physics-2 questions, Capacitors-2 questions, LC Circuits, Kinematics, Gravitation, Optics, Current Electricity. Overall, the section was moderate compared to the other two subjects as per candidates
• Mathematics, was tricky & difficult as per candidates. There were 2 questions from 3D Geometry and some tricky questions from Functions, Matrices, Ellipse, Vectors, Probability, Harmonic Progressions, Trigonometric Equations. Some good questions were asked from the chapters of Probability, Complex Numbers,3-D Geometry, Conic Sections. Students felt this section was the Toughest
• No errors have been reported as of now as complete paper is yet to be analysed
• Total no. of questions in Paper-1 were 54
• Total Marks of Paper-1 was 180 which is same as last year
• As the Test was Computer Based candidates could exercise the option to Clear Response to change any option, they could mark it for Review, Save and next to proceed further
• Scribble Pads were provided to candidates during the exam for rough work and were taken back after the exam

Analysis of JEE Advanced (Paper-2) Afternoon Session : 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm

1. For the JEE Advanced 2022 paper, 2 total marks were 180 and the duration of the paper was 3 hours.

2. The JEE Advanced 2022 paper 2 had a total of 54 questions, with 18 questions in each subject

3. The Paper was divided into three sections namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

4. The maximum mark for each Part was 60 marks

5. In each part, there are three sections-

Section- I (Maximum marks- 24),

Section- II (Maximum Marks- 24)

Section- III (Maximum marks- 12)

6. Section 1 of JEE Advanced paper 2 had 8 questions- with integer type answers, the answer of which was a positive number only. The marking scheme in this section was as follows

Full marks: +3 for the correct answer

Zero Marks: 0 if unattempted

Negative Marks: -1 in all other cases

7. Section 2 of JEE Advanced 2022 after noon shift paper had six questions with four options in which ONE OR MORE THAN ONE option(s) were correct. Marking scheme in this section:

Full marks: +4  If only (all)  the correct options are chosen

Partial Marks: +3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen

Partial Marks: +2 If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen

Partial Marks: +1 If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen

Zero Marks:: 0  If none of the options are chosen

Negative Marks: -2 In all other cases

8. JEE Advanced Sec- 3  had four questions with four options in each in which ONLY ONE of the four options was correct. Marking scheme in this section:

Full marks: +3 if option chosen is correct

Zero Marks:: 0 if none of the options are chosen

Negative Marks: -1 in all other cases

Paper-2:   Immediate reaction of students :

• Students found the overall level of paper to be Moderate & Lengthy
• JEE Advanced 2022 Paper-2 was lengthy as per students reaction
• Candidates found the JEE Advanced paper 2 easier compared to Paper-1 held in the 1st Shift
• Candidates found Chemistry section easy
• The difficulty level of the Physics and Mathematics section was moderate to tough level and lengthy too
• Chemistry (Easy)-  Balanced Section. There were questions in Physical Chemistry from Electrochemistry, Mole Concept, Surface Chemistry, Thermodynamics, and Chemical Kinetics. Organic Chemistry has a more evenly distributed set of mixed concept-based questions. There were no direct questions in Inorganic Chemistry, however there were questions from the p-block that were specifically reaction-based
• Physics (Moderate & Lengthy)- There were additional concept-based lectures that covered all chapters. This part was rated as Moderate by students. Optics, Kinematics, Work Power & Energy, Rotational Motion, Thermodynamics coupled with Surface Tension, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, and Magnetism questions were posed. Because mixed concept questions required more time, several students thought this portion to be long
• Mathematics (Moderately & Lengthy)- There were more Calculus and Coordinate Geometry problems. Questions were a mix of concept questions from Functions & Progressions, Application of Derivatives, Differential Equation, Circle, Trigonometry, Vectors, and Matrices, as well as some direct questions from Hyperbola, Ellipse, Permutation & Combination, Probability, Definite Integration, and Inverse of Function. Questions required extensive computations

JEE Advanced Qualifying Marks 2022

Candidates appearing in JEE Advanced exam should secure the minimum marks required to qualify for further rounds. The marking scheme of JEE Advanced is as follows-

For questions with one or more correct answers, the marking structure is as follows:

• If all of the marked responses are right, you will receive a +4
• For partially right responses, +3, +2, +1 is given if no incorrect option is highlighted
• -2 for an incorrect response
• There will be no negative grading for questions that are not attempted

Marking scheme for questions containing answers of the type Numerical Value

• +3 for a correct response
• Negative marks will not be given for wrong responses or questions that are not attempted

Marking technique for single correct option and matching list type questions

• +3 for the correct response
• -1 for an incorrect response
• There will be no negative grading for questions that are not attempted

JEE Advanced 2022 Answer Key

IIT Bombay will release the answer key of JEE Advanced once the exam is over. The final answer key will be uploaded to the official website after the exams on September 11, 2022. Until then, candidates may go through the unofficial answer keys released by various coaching institutes for reference.
