Shift 1 of JEE Main 2023 Day 4 was concluded on January 29 from 9am to 12 noon. The detailed question paper analysis, along with memory-based questions and answer key, is provided here.

JEE Main 29 January Shift 1: After a gap of three days, the fourth day of JEE Main January 2023 session was conducted again with B.Tech Paper 1, earlier as two shifts per day. The paper was conducted for a total of three hours with no internal time slots separating the subjects. The first shift was concluded at noon and the detailed JEE Main 29 Jan 2023 shift 1 analysis will be updated here as and when the responses are recorded. For PwD students, the exam will end at 1 p.m. Also, as the exam was CBT, based on memory-based questions, a detailed topic-wise weightage will be added here as well.

The question paper had 60 MCQs and 30 NAT questions, divided equally among the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. While there was no choice in the MCQs, 50% choice was provided in NAT questions, with the students having to attempt any five questions per subject only. Negative marking is applicable for both types of questions, +4 for the correct answer and -1 for the wrong answer.

JEE Main 29 January 2023 Shift 1 Major Highlights

  • The overall difficulty of the JEE Main today's paper was considered to be moderate to difficult
  • Physics section had mixed reactions were some students found it easy whereas others found it moderate
  • Mathematics section was considered to be lengthy and difficult
  • Chemistry section was found to be of moderate level of difficulty
  • Inorganic, organic and physical chemistry was given equal weightage but some students claim organic chemistry had more weightage
  • Chemistry section contained NCERT based questions
  • NAT section of chemistry contained many questions from physical chemistry
  • Physics section contained many theory-based questions
  • Chemistry section contained many chemical reaction based questions
  • There was one assertion based question
