JEE Main 30 January Shift 1: The first shift of the day for Paper 1 (B.E/ B.Tech) was conducted from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, which will continue on until 1 p.m. for those belonging to the PwD category. However, the first reactions of the students to the paper and the analysis made by the subject experts is be provided here. Afterwards, a more in-depth analysis which will give the topic-wise and difficulty-wise weightage will be posted on this page once the memory-based questions are obtained.
There were a total of 90 questions in JEE Main 2023 paper for three subjects. Each subject had 20 multiple-choice questions and 10 numerical aptitude questions, out of which only half were to be solved. A candidate will be awarded four marks for every correct answer and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

The important highlights of JEE Main 2023 January 29 Shift 1is enlisted below. An analysis by the students, how they believed the exam was, and their first reactions to it will be given here as well.
- The overall difficulty level of JEE Main today paper was found to be moderate to difficult
- Physics and Chemistry section was more tough compared to previous shifts
- Mathematics section was found to be lengthy due to NAT section having tricky calculations
- The chemistry NAT section contained questions from Physical chemistry
- Organic and Inorganic chemistry questions were found to be easy by the candidates
- Physics section was considered to be moderate level, slightly more difficult than previous shifts
- More weightage was given to Inorganic chemistry and Physical chemistry
- Chemistry section did not contain direct NCERT question, but rather the questions were based from the concepts
- The topics of physics section were given equal weigtage and distribution
- 90% of the physics were formula based questions, whereas 10% was conceptual questions
