Advaid Deepak of Kozhikode emerged as the state topper in the JEE Main 2020 (January) exam which was conducted between 06th and 09th January 2020. Son of a doctor couple, Advaid scored 99.97 percentile in the January exam and wants to appear in the JEE Advanced examination scheduled to be conducted later this year. He also wants to appear in the medical entrance exam, i.e National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) . Advaid has been staying with his maternal grandparents in Chettipuzha for the last two years.
Another 26 students also found their names in the list of Kerala State toppers of JEE Main 2020 exam out of which 12 students secured 99 percentile score, 9 got 98 percentile and 5 got 97 percentile. Closest to the JEE Main 2020 Kerala state topper is Mithun Chandrasekhar who scored 99.93 percentile in the exam. Advaid spoke in details about his preparation strategy in an interview.

He said that both Mathematics and Science had fascinated him since childhood. On being asked what propelled him to sit in the JEE Main 2020 exam, he said that his biggest motivator is the dream of studying in one of the best Engineering colleges in the country. In the months leading up to the exam, he focussed more on attempting mock tests. On regular days, he would devote a minimum of 7 hours for studying and he doubled the hours on holidays. His next step is to appear in the 2020 JEE Advanced exam.

Dr Rijil Deepak, Advaid’s father, is employed with the Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode while his mother, Dr Darshana is currently rendering her services to the ENT Hospital in Kozhikode.
