JEE Main Session 1 Result 2023: What is Percentile Score?

Candidates who are unaware of the percentile score shall note that it is a normalisation process that NTA uses to release the results as the exams are being conducted in various shifts. JEE Main Session 1 2023 exams were held from January 24 to February 1, 2023, in two shifts each day. It is difficult to release the results based on the raw scores, as a range of factors affects the results. Thus, NTA has introduced a formula, that deduces a Percentile Score of the candidate, which is derived from their raw scores.

JEE Main Session 1 Result 2023: Percentile score formula

Here is the formula that NTA uses to calculate the Percentile Score of a candidate to release the JEE Main Session 1 Result 2023:

Percentile Score = 100 x (the number of students that received a score that was the same as or lower than the student) / (the total number of students that attempted that examination in that session).
