Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided that JEE 2017 will be conducted both in India & abroad.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI has announced the application for JEE Mains 2017 offline exam to be conducted on April 2, 2017. The result of national level engineering exam will be announced on April 27, 2017. JEE Advanced 2017 officials made these announcements. However, there isn’t any official announcement from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which is the exam conducting authority of JEE Mains 2017.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Mains 2017:

  • General Candidates should have been born on or after 01 October, 1992 and SC, ST and PwD candidates on or after 01, October 1987
  • Students who have appeared or passed Class 12th or equivalent exam in 2015 or 2016 with PCM can also apply
  • Diploma Holders can also apply
  • Student should not have attempted the JEE for 3 years or more

According to CBSE officials, JEE Mains 2017, All India Ranks will be calculated without a normalized score of class 12 marks. In 2016, the scores were calculated according to 60:40 ratio, i.e., marks obtained in JEE Mains and normalized scores of Class 12.

Application Process for JEE Mains 2017:

The application process for 2017 JEE Mains is online. Students will have to register at the official website of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) by following just 3 simple steps.

  • Fill in the online application form, select a password (by answering the security question) & note down the system generated Application Number. This application number will be valid for all future transactions with regard to your application
  • Images: Students have to scan their image, signature & thumb impression. The image size should be between 4 - 40 KB, whereas the size of the student's signature, as well as the thumb impression, should be between 1 - 30 KB each
  • Dimensions: Photograph - 3.5 cm(width) x 4.5 cm(Height) only; Signature - 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only; thumb impression - 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only
  • Payment of JEE Application fee: Payment can be made via Credit or Debit Card & Bank e-Challan
  • Credit/ Debit Card: Students will have to select Debit/Credit Card option and follow the instructions to pay the fee. Post payment, students can take a print out of the Acknowledgement Form.
  • Bank e-Challan: Students can pay their JEE application form via e-Challan through Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC banks to deposit the application fee

NOTE : Students can modify/ correct particulars ONLY until the payment of fees. Once the fee has been paid or e-Challan downloaded, the form will be locked for editing/ changes.

From the academic year 2017-18, a total number of top 2,20,000 candidates from JEE Mains will be eligible to take JEE Advanced 2017. However, in 2016 only 2,00,000 candidates were eligible to take JEE Advanced, and it was only 1,50,000 in the year 2015.

JEE Mains 2017 is the first stage of the entrance examination to seek admission in Indian Institutes of Technology. Last year, around 12 lakh students took the test. The number of students appearing for the exam is expected to increase in 2017.
