When the final results of JEE Mains 2017 were declared, it was revealed by CBSE that 79.2% boys cleared the exam as against 20.8% girls.

National level engineering entrance exam - JEE Mains 2017 results were announced today afternoon. The Joint Entrance Examination is a gateway to engineering colleges of the country that offer B.Tech courses in various streams.

Following are some data points that have been released by the conducting body of JEE Mains 2017 - Central Board of Secondary Education, popularly known as the CBSE:

Candidate data for those who appeared for the examination:

Total number of candidates who appeared for JEE Mains 2017 11.86 lakh
Percentage of boys who registered for the exam (both online & offline mode) 72.2%
Percentage of girls who registered for the exam (both online & offline mode) 27.8%
Number of transgender candidates 3

Percentage of male candidates who cleared the examination 79.2%
Percentage of female candidates who cleared the examination 20.8%

Percentage of girls in the top 5000 9.3%

Number of boys who appeared for the online exam 1.25 lakh
Number of girls who appeared for the online exam 40,385
