Jindal Global Law School to Host International Moot Court Competition

The Jindal Global Law School is hosting an international moot court contest from 14 February 2020. The competition will stretch till 16 February 2020. The event aims at promoting values of environmental justice and sustainability.

Jindal Law School Moot Court Contest

Jindal Global Law School of O.P. Jindal Global University is ready to host India National rounds of the annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court competition 2019-2020. The 24th Stetson Moot Court contest aims at promoting values of environmental sustainability and justice. The contest will be hosted at the JGLS (Jindal Global Law School) and will be organised by Surana & Surana International Attorneys from 14 February 2020 to 16 February 2020. The Stetson International Moot Court competition helps generate social sensitivity and intellectual consciousness among the youth.

Partner and CEO of Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Vinod Surara claimed that moot contests are conducted to sensitise today’s youth to become tomorrow’s green policymakers. The CEO believes youths can combat the long term negative impact of environmental pollution on the economy, health and social well-being of mankind in a swift and sustainable manner. He claims that Surana & Surana International Attorneys was delighted to partner with the Jindal Global Law School for hosting the moot court competition.

This year, the concerns of the moot proposition were significant challenges in the context of the reintroduction of a species of bear that has gone extinct with time. The relevance of such issues and the institutional settings make for a competition that promises the development of comparative jurisprudence and innovative legal arguments.

The event is aimed at bringing together distinguished jurists, world-class scholars and budding international lawyers with an interest in connecting a gap between practice and theory in international environmental law. Multiple teams have already registered for the moot court competition. The Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir, Justice Gita Mittal will be the chief guest at the awards and the valedictory session.

C. Raj Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of the O.P. Jindal Global University, said that they are extremely excited about hosting the moot-court at a critical time in history. He further added that the future of the planet is already facing serious sets of challenges. The V.C. believes that law universities and schools hold an authoritative position to speak the truth on issues related to the environment. He concluded that moot courts bring together impressive opportunities for us to engage with the law and policy.
