J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N N Vohra expressed their happiness and congratulated the University of Jammu for making it to the list of top 60 institutions across the country that have been granted autonomy by UGC . This is one of the greatest achievements for the University of Jammu as it will help in improving the standards and quality of education in the state.
Governor congratulated all the officials and faculty of the university as it is a well-deserved recognition and achievement of the outstanding work done by several departments of the University. The autonomy will help the University of Jammu to take independent decisions without any interference from UGC. This recognition will also help in improving rankings and in the recognition of the university.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, said that this achievement reflects the struggle and hard work done by teachers, students, and administration. She also mentioned that this has been one of the top priority of her government, ever since it came to power. For her government consolidation of education infrastructure in the J&K state is one of the top priorities.

The state government is also introducing new policies for higher education and improving the quality of education. She is also the pro-chancellor of the University and hopes that after attaining autonomy the university would be able to attract more resources and talents. They are also planning for several tie-ups and collaborations to provide students with career-oriented opportunities within the state itself.
