Governor Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik has announced scholarships for the specially-abled students of the state. The announcement was made on the occasion of International Day for Disabled Persons.
The scholarship scheme will fall under the J&K Government Scholarship for Differently Abled Students. The candidates will be offered with the financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh, and it will be awarded to the students annually. The scholarship will be offered to meritorious specially-abled students.

According to the official release, the scholarship is a part of the several initiatives of the government to motivate the specially-abled students of the state and to develop suitable infrastructure and institutions for them in the higher learning institutes.
Satya Pal Malik delivered a speech on the International Day of Disabled Person and said that it is the state government’s duty to provide the suitable facilities for the overall development of a person with special needs. It is important to take such initiatives so that they can also pursue their dreams and build a successful career.
An event was organized at the Department of School Education on the occasion of International Day of Disabled Person. There were many cultural performances by the specially-abled children. The Governor announced cash awards for the performers and anchors of the event.

A five-day orientation programme will be organised for 30 children special needs in Karnataka and Bangalore. At last, he appreciated the efforts put in by the school education department for organising the event.
