The Jawaharlal Nehru University has given green signal to the proposal for introducing three new language courses. The new course will include Certificate of Proficiency in Computational Linguistics, Certificate of Proficiency in Pali and Master’s (M.A.) in Sanskrit. According to the JNU officials, these new courses will help reach out to the wider public and will also help to revive these languages.
The decision regarding the introduction of the new courses was approved during the 147th Academic Council which took place on Friday i.e. 5th Oct 2018. The new courses will be offered by the Special Centre for E-learning which was opened recently at the university campus. The Special Centre is established with an aim to introduce more such certificate and proficiency courses in online mode as the e-learning module allows a large number of aspirants to study as compared to the numbers in classroom teaching.
