The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has begun the seat allocation process on June 29, 2017. The first round of seat acceptance process for the admission to NITs, IITs, GFTIs and IIITs will continue until June 3, 2017. According to sources, a total number of 994 girls out of 11,000 students secured admission to IITs in the first round seat allotment. JoSAA will continue the counselling process for the next three weeks, and there will be seven rounds of seat allotment process.
This year, around 1,50,000 candidates exercised choices through JoSAA in the first allotment, and the total number of choices exercised candidates were 1.7 crore. According to the official data of IIT Madras , a total number of 36,114 candidates secured admission in 97 institutes across the country. Out of these candidates, 11,000 students bagged admission in IITs, 3,000 in IIITs, 18,000 in NITs and 4,000 in GFTs.

- Find the link that indicates ‘Round 1 View Allotment Result and Pay Acceptance Fee’.
- Click on the link, and fill the login details on a new page.
- Check the seat allotment status, and pay the seat acceptance fee online.

With an objective to attract international students, the admission authority offered seats to two international students in IITs. Even though the number was small, the number of international students aspiring for IITs might increase in the coming years.
JoSAA also allocated five seats to the students of DS category in various IITs. A total number of 46 students were offered a preparatory course in the first round of allocation process to IITs.
