The Joint Seat Allocation Authority or JoSAA has announced the official schedule for counselling on June 7, 2017. The counselling process engineering or B.Tech admissions will take place for institutes including the NITs, IIITs, IITs and GFTIs. The registrations and choice filling process for JEE candidates will begin at 10:00 AM on June 15, 2017, while for the candidates of JEE Advanced 2017 AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) , it will commence from June 19, 2017. The results of JEE Advanced AAT 2017 will be out by June 18, 2017.
According to the JoSAA 2017 official counselling schedule, the entire process will be wrapped up between June 15, 2017, and July 19, 2017. JoSAA will conduct seven rounds of counselling as well as two rounds of mock counselling this year as compared to the six rounds conducted in the year 2016.

With the increase in the number of rounds of counselling, the number of institutes participating in the counselling process has increased from 93 to 97. This year, three new IIITs and one Government Funded Technical Institute (GFTI) will take part in the counselling process.
So far, no official announcement on the number of seats available has been made available for the year 2017.

The eligible candidates who wish to take part in the counselling process must register on the official website first. After the registration process, the candidates can choose as many choices, i.e., institutes and B.Tech programmes. Later, the candidates must lock their choices. Depending on the rank and merit, seat allotment will be done.
JEE Mains 2017 qualified candidates can choose NITs, IIITs and GFTIs as options. On the other hand, JEE Advanced 2017 candidates will be allotted seats in the IITs.
Once the seat allotment is done, the candidates need to pay the seat acceptance fee. Later, the candidates will have to report at the reporting centre for the verification of documents. Usually, the reporting centres function from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The candidates have to report to the institutes after the 7th round of seat allotment. If any candidates want to withdraw the seat, they should do it by the 6th round of counselling. Withdrawal of seat is not possible in the 7th round of counselling.
