The Department of Social Work of Kakatiya University will hold a two-day national seminar on state government’s flagship programme ‘Mission Kakatiya’ and its impact at ground level. The seminar has been titled as ‘Mission Kakatiya: New Hope for Sustainable Rural Development in Telangana state'. The seminar will take place at the Senate Hall of the varsity on November 25 & 26, 2016. The seminar is being jointly sponsored by ICSSR Southern Region and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.

Prof. T. Srinivas, Director of the seminar, explained that the seminar would be inaugurated by R. Vidyasagar, Government Advisor (Irrigation). Vice-Chancellor of KU, Prof. Sayanna will preside over the inaugural ceremony. The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. C. Ganesh of Osmania University.
Eminent professors from various universities will participate in the seminar and will deliver their speech on the theme. Delegates from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka would take part in the seminar and present research papers on the topic. The primary objective of the seminar is to discuss various aspects of Mission Kakatiya that is being implemented in Telangana state.

Mission Kakatiya is all about developing the region that was ruled by Kakatiya dynasty. The main emphasis will be on developing irrigation facilities by constructing tanks across ten districts of the state. The government wants to make the vision of Kakatiyas a reality by restoring minor irrigation sources in Telangana state.
