Industries Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Deshpande revealed that the state government is aspiring to provide skills to 1.88 crore youth between 2017 and 2030. For this purpose, the state government set an annual target of 13.4 lakh new entrants and existing workforce.
Adding further, Mr. Deshpande mentioned that skill development is one of the major areas of focus for every country. In case of India, there is a wide scope for imparting skills. Speaking at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2017, the minister said that India is a youth nation with 2.12 crore of the citizens the age group of 16-35 years. He was of the opinion that imparting skills would play a vital role in improving the employability of people.

Mr. Deshpande explained that the aim of the state government is to nurture Karnataka’s innovation and knowledge-driven economy. Karnataka is aiming to become a state of job creators, instead of being a state of job seekers. For this purpose, the state government will promote the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, he added.
Explaining the importance of investment, Mr. Deshpande said that physical capital had been playing a vital role in Karnataka’s growth success. Now, a new wave of growth could be possible through investment in ‘human capital’.

Mr. Deshpande pointed that Karnataka is a combination of the highly skilled workforce, open confident cultural milieu, entrepreneurial mindset driven by innovation, advanced technical and technological expertise.
Recently, the United Nations has ranked Bangalore as the fourth largest technology cluster across the globe after London, Boston and Silicon Valley.
