The Kerala Engineering, Agriculture, Medical entrance exam, also commonly referred to as KEAM , for the 2020 session was successfully conducted on the 16th of July 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. KEAM 2020 was successfully conducted in various exam centres located in the state of Kerala, New Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai. KEAM is conducted every year by the Commissioner of Entrance Exam of Kerala state for candidates looking for admission into engineering, agriculture and pharmacy courses offered by various colleges of Kerala.
As per the report received from a trusted source, more than 1 lakh students appeared in this year’s KEAM exam even though the COVID-19 positive cases continue to surge in thousands across the country. KEAM 2020 was conducted in two sessions - morning and afternoon.
The KEAM 2020 examination centres had all the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the examination centres do not become the breeding ground for coronavirus transmission. Thermal scanners and metal detectors were at use in all the examination centres. The candidates were handed out fresh masks at the same time when the KEAM 2020 question papers were distributed. The exam halls were also properly disinfected before the examinees began to arrive and after they left.

Sadly, such measures could not be taken outside the KEAM 2020 exam centres as the parents of the examinees were found openly flouting the social distancing norms. Several photos and videos of parents violating the COVID-19 guidelines surfaced on various social media platforms. However, such instances took in only 4-5 exam centres.

Kerala currently has 10,275 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,372 are active COVID-19 cases. Total coronavirus cases in India crossed the 10 Lakh mark on Friday. (Stats available during the publishing of this news)
