A cabinet meeting was held in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in order to discuss the addition of 82 posts in the higher education sector. These posts are to be opened up at the Kerala Institute of Health Sciences (KUHS) and Kannur University.
For KUHS, the posts added are 46 in number. These include 7 section officer posts, 11 computer assistant posts and 28 assistant posts. For Kannur University, all the 36 new posts are teaching positions which have to be filled up as soon as possible, as stated in the Cabinet meeting.

Major Decisions of Kerala Cabinet on May 18, 2022
Apart from the addition of 82 new posts in the higher education sector in Kerala, the cabinet meeting also addressed certain other issues that have been plaguing the education system in the state. These include:
- A revision in the pay scale for the teachers and employees in the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy and Kerala Labour Welfare Fund Board;
- Addition of the post of office assistant for the Kerala Real Estate Appellate Tribunal. This post will be filled on a contractual basis;
- Positive response for continuing the deputy director post created in the year 2018 in the journalist pension section under the Department of Information and Public Relations;
- The government is all set to act as the guarantor for the Artisans Development Co-operative Limited (Artco Ltd) that can now apply for a INR 45 crore loan from National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation with the purpose of allocating jobs and monetary aid to the poor and backward sections of the society;
