The Kerala High Court stayed the decision of the state government to implement the suggestions of the Khader Committee, which proposes a single directorate for the education industry. Justice PV Asha stayed the choice of the government to bring the Higher Secondary Directorate, Vocational Higher Secondary Directorate and Directorate of Public Instruction under the Directorate of General Education. In accordance with the Khader Committee report, the high court realized that the integration is in breach of the regulations of the Kerala Education Rules. Therefore, the court implemented a temporary stay on all further proceedings in this regard.
Last month, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired the cabinet meeting to implement the Khader Committee report. The suggestions of the study were also taken by the Khader committee report in which the following recommendations were made:
- To Upgrade the Professional Qualification of Teachers
- To Bring the School Education Sector Under the Single Directorate

To oppose the decision, NSS moved the Court against the government saying that this decision will sabotage the public education system and would throw the education department into chaos. The State Assembly was lately notified by Education Minister C Ravindranath that this move was designed to improve educational standards. Previously, the Government had called for a conference with teaching organizations and non-teaching personnel organizations, but most of the officials refused to support it.
