Kerala School Holiday: The administration units of various districts in Kerala have declared holidays in the schools of all classes up to July 31 due to excessive rainfall expected in the region. The state unit of the Indian Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts for a number of districts of Kerala. As per the official update, the schools of Thiruvananthapuram and its nearby areas have been directed to remain shut for the next couple of days until the next update about the weather in the state. Kerala School Holiday on July 31 has been declared in Thrissur, Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Ernakulum, Idukki, and Alappuzha.
The monsoon has been peaking in the southern states for the past week and the water level of the sources is increasing significantly. Recently, the water level of Banasura Sagar Dam near Wayanad Mundakai region has increased by 15 cm in the past few days. Considering these situations, the district authorities of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Idukki, Malappuram, and Thrissur have directed all of their schools to remain closed.

Although the whole state is facing the ultimate pace of monsoons, the state weather department has issued ‘Yellow’ and ‘Orange’ level alerts for some of the major districts.
