The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of the Government of India has conferred Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar with the Institute of Eminence (IoE) Tag. With the tag, KIIT has joined the 10 Public and 10 Private Universities which have been upgraded to world-class universities under the Institute of Eminence scheme of the Govt. of India.
The KIIT press release state that international rankings are important to get the IoE tag. The MHRD has considered to award it with the IoE tag after its good position in the recent THE and QS Rankings.This
KIIT is now considered one of the best professional and technical universities in India which does not only attract students from different parts of India but also from foreign countries. The institute was established in 1992 by Mr. Achyuta Samanta, eminent politician, and educationist from Odisha.
While awarding the IoE tag to KIIT Bhubaneswar, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi said that KIIT could not have been made it this big if the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha did not bless the institute with its extended support. He has expected that the CM of Odisha will continue to thrive towards educational excellence with the development of KIIT.
KIIT Does not only confer engineering and technical courses but also offers other professional courses like Law, Media & Mass Communication, Management, Nursing, Design and others. The institute offers UG and PG courses in all its specialisations and schools. With the NAAC Accredited ‘A’ grade, the Institute stands as one of the best private institutes in India to study in.

The founder of the institute has further plans of setting up higher education facilities in rural areas for free education to rural children. He has recently announced that such institutes are being made in different parts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal.
