Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis announced that the students who want to avail scholarships must link their Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts. He directed the concerned officials to take steps on the same and indicated that Nagpur University, Savitribai Phule Pune University and University of Mumbai must work towards achieving global rankings. For this purpose, he directed the officials of varsities to prepare a plan for achieving rankings.

Fadnavis also conducted a review of the progress of Department of Primary & Secondary Education, Technical and Higher Education. He also held meeting with secretaries of various departments and directed the education department to introduce biometric attendance at all aided and local schools. The higher educational institutions must adopt digital/online transactions instead of making payments by cash.

He further added that around 33,000 schools across the state would be digitalised and the aim is to bring 100 percent learning outcome.
He further explained that the government has been working consistently to regulate drop out rates of girl students. The government will implement child tracking system, digital classes and biometric attendance.
Earlier University Grants Commission (UGC) mentioned that Aadhaar is not necessary to avail various scholarships. However, Fadnavis indicated that Aadhaar must be linked to bank accounts for availing scholarships. The main intention of the government is that real beneficiaries shall be eligible to avail the scholarship. The government will also take necessary steps for funding universities and support them to achieve global ranks in future.
