Coronavirus outbreak in India has been affecting the education system drastically, and the Indian government has come up with various measures to combat the damage that is being done. The government is providing e-content through various e-learning platforms.
According to the reports, there are more than 1.5 million schools in India and more than 260 million enrollments, which makes India one of the largest and complex school education systems in the world. These platforms will help students to access various subjects relevant to board exams and entrance exams. As most of the schools are shut due to the Coronavirus outbreak, students can make use of these e-learning platforms in an effective way. This will help you to get better marks in board exams and entrance exams.
SWYAM has about 1900 courses which can be accessed by people in over 60 countries. Currently, over 26 lakh students are taking 574 courses on offer, according to the official release of Human Resources Development (HRD) ministry. In total 1,509 SWAYAM courses are available for self-learning and SWAYAM 2.0 supports the launch of online degree programmes.

Six courses of HRD Ministry's SWAYAM platform have listed in the best 30 online courses of 2019. Class Central which offers free online courses from top universities such as MIT, Harvard, Stanford has released the list of Best Online Courses. Moodle APP for Online Teaching- Learning
Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department has come up with a Moodle platform for online teaching-learning in government sciences and art colleges. It will be a two-day online training workshop on Design, Develop and Deliver Online Courses through the Moodle platform for teachers. The app has been chosen by the Education Department for online teaching because its app enables access of course content offline and one can even monitor their progress.
GETCETGo
To help the Class 12 students, Karnataka Higher Education Department has come up with an app and website -‘GetCETGo’ which will offer online coaching for KCET and NEET exam aspirants.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Deputy CM Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan and medical education minister Dr. K Sudhakar launched the GETCETGo app and website. Interested candidates can log in using their CET roll number and a password to log in will be sent to their registered mobile number linked to the CET application.
The study material can also be accessed offline on the ‘GetCETGo’ app. Candidates can access the GetCETGo v1.0 app using the link provided on the website. It has mock tests, practice tests, important topics, etc. The downloaded content can be accessed in offline mode as well.
Google- YouTube Learning Destination
Google has launched a Youtube Learning Destination to help parents, students, academicians, and educators. The YouTube learning destination is accessible on mobile as well as Desktop and contains resources and content on topics such as Physics, Maths, Biology and have come up with curriculum-relevant topics which makes learning interesting and fun. Some of these topics include Why does Salt make food taste better, How to Change basic English into business English and other interest-based content such as Yoga, Photography, etc.
The YouTube Learning Destination currently features content in English and Hindi, with Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and will be available in other Indian languages soon.
Diksha
For Class 12 th students, Diksha is a good platform to access the NCERT, CBSE and state board textbooks. The content is available in multiple languages, and there are more than 80000 e-books are available. Students can download the Diksha app through the Google Play Store.
E-Pathshala
E-Pathshala is a web portal where students can access all education content of NCERT. The content is available in the form of audios, videos, e-books and flipbooks. The content is available in different languages, and students of Class 1 to 12 can access this content. The mobile app is also available on the Google Play Store.
National Repository of Open Education Resources
This portal has a wide range of educational content for board exams and entrance exams. The portal has a total number of 14527 files in the form of e-books, audios, videos, etc. The content is available in various languages.
SWAYAM
SWAYAM is a portal where students can find various courses ranging from school level to Ph.D. It covers all the streams such as Arts, Science, Engineering, Commerce, Medial, Humanities, etc. You can visit www.swayam.gov.in to access digital education content.
As per the latest report of MHRD, the digital education initiatives have witnessed an increase in the number of registrations. The number of users on the National Online Education Platform SWAYAM has tripled since the lockdown. Earlier the courses on SWAYAM were time-bound and students had to register in advance for the same. However, now the courses are free without any registration.SWYAM has around 1900 courses that can be accessed by people in over 60 countries apart from India.
Also, MHRD has encouraged the faculty to provide more courses under SWAYAM, and appropriate incentives for their career will be provided. UGC has been asked to prepare guidelines regarding online and distance learning guidelines to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio.
SWAYAM Prabha
Swayam Prabha is a D2H channel that airs education content 24/7. This channel is available on all D2H platforms including local siti cable networks. The schedule of the channel can be viewed on Swayam Prabha official website.
Apart from the above, the HRD Ministry has uploaded projects for students on various e-learning platforms. These projects can be accessed free of cost. The projects are on various government initiatives. These will help the students to enhance their scope of knowledge. Many institutes/ central universities and colleges are starting online courses and assessments to engage the students. The digital initiative by different education institutes may bring out a positive change. With this many educational institutes may also plan to completely make their admission process online and get away with the offline process.
