Telangana HC NEET PG Hearing 2023: The High Court of Telangana has taken up the second hearing on NEET PG 2023 postponement on February 15, and the students seeking exam postponement saw a partial victory. The matter was listed for hearing on February 15, and the court session began at 10:30 AM but the plea was heard around 2:45 PM. The High Court of Telangana has not made any decision to postpone the exam but asked NMC to reconsider the exam date if it receives representations from students. Now the matter has reached the Supreme Court, and a petition has been filed seeking postponement.

  • The court has disposed the petition
  • However, the court has directed the petitioners (students) to submit a fresh representation to NMC/ Ministry of Health seeking NEET PG 2023 postponement within one week
  • NMC/ Ministry of Health shall take approrpiate decision and pass an order as early as possible as NEET PG 2023 is scheduled to be conducted on March 5. Now, it is the responsbility of NMC/ Ministry to take a decision whether to postpone the exam or not
  • The court directed the NMC to take care of admission timelines from the next year and specify a uniform cutoff date so that things will be on track

The decision of Telangana HC (Official from Advocate - Ponampelli Ravi) Telangana State High Court, Division Bench while the Heated Arguments between Petitioner's counsel Ponampelli Ravi and Respondent counsels Dy.Solicitor General and other Govt. Standing counsels had considered natural justice demand for an extension in view of the shortage of time to prepare for internship students due to different notices under eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2023 & NEET MDS 2023. Students got a relief order for fresh applications towards the extension of the exam date to the ministry and that should consider in view of 1st week of the March examination and publish another date. NMC counsel agreed on the same.

Is NEET PG 2023 Officially Postponed?

As of now, NEET PG 2023 has not been postponed officially . Many students are interpreting the court order and are of the opinion that the exam has been postponed. The exact clarification is that the High Court of Telangana has just asked the National Medical Commission to think about whether they can postpone the exam scheduled on March 5 if they receive representations from students. The court has indicated that if NMC decides to postpone the exam, it can notify the students as soon as possible as the scheduled to be conducted on March 5. The final decision to postpone or conduct the exam is in the hands of NMC and the Ministry of Health.

The demand to postpone NEET PG 2023 has intensified after the extension of the internship deadline till August 11. As the counselling process of NEET PG 2023 is expected to begin in September, students are demanding for postponement of the exam by at least 3 months. On the other hand, a plea has been filed in Supreme Court as well seeking exam postponement for which a hearing is expected to take place this week.

On February 14, the High Court of Telangana took up the first hearing on NEET PG 2023 but the proceedings were adjourned to February 15 as the counsel representing NMC was not available.
