Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The event took place at the campus of Lovely Professional University. A specialized training programme was conducted in LPU under the assistance and supervision of ICSI as an influence of the signed MoU. A programme was organized for the research scholars, students and the faculty members of LPU with a consented mutual interest in selected areas. During the event, LPU contributed by providing an opportunity to its designated faculty members to help in the training sessions by becoming the resource persons of the workshop. Both ICSI and LPU analyzed the opportunity and scope of initiating a new MBA Course in Legal Affairs & Governance. Another initiative is to assist CS qualified students to do Ph.D. from LPU.

Before the signing of the MoU, the President of ICSI CS Makarand Lele asked Lovely Professional University to give recognition to the Company Secretary (CS) course as the degree equivalent to Post Graduate Degree especially for the ones interested in pursuing Ph.D. from LPU. Giving weightage to his statement, he also stated that, the institute offers its students a completely developed Research and Academic Wing and also promotes students to indulge more in research activities. He also added that CS has already been recognized as a degree suitable pursuing Ph.D. by 56 universities around the nation.

The MoU signing event also witnessed dignitaries from both the institutions. Secretary ICSI, CS Ashok Kr Dixit; CS Dinesh Gupta; CS Satwinder Singh; CS Aman Setia; CS Prof Vijay Gupta and CS Pallavi adorned the event from ICSI. On the other hand, notable personalities from LPU included Pro. Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal; Executive Dean Dr. Sanjay Modi; Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Ramesh Kanwar and Dr. Ramesh Thakur.
‘Training of Trainers’ and ‘Teacher Congruence’ are two lined up programmes in joint collaborative efforts under the signed MoU for both ICSI and LPU. As an advantage of the MoU students pursuing Ph.D. from LPU will be exempted from university subjects like corporate governance.
