The Lucknow University has made changes to the admission guidelines and announced that Aadhaar number is not mandatory anymore for candidates filling online admission forms. Director of the University (PR), Prof NK Pandey, said that Aadhaar card is no more compulsory for the online application process of the University of Lucknow. He also said that there was an oversight in the guidelines of the application process and the error has been rectified.
In spite of the Supreme Court’s interim stay on Aadhaar requirement for various entrances tests like NEET or state entrance tests, Lucknow University has announced that it was mandatory for the students to carry Aadhaar card for admission to its Postgraduate programmes.

Earlier, Lucknow University had also mentioned in their admission process that it is mandatory for candidates to carry their card during the time of enrolment. Applicants who do not have their Aadhaar Card are required to apply for one and can fill the application form using the option of Aadhaar Card enrolment number and can update once they get the actual number.
Raj Kumar Singh, Lucknow University Registrar stated that in case a student does not have a admit card they can speak to the admission coordinator. He also mentioned that even though Aadhaar is compulsory the university is not going to hold back any candidate from taking admission if they do not have one. The main agenda behind making Aadhaar compulsory is to establish the identity of the candidate and not blocking students from seeking admission into the Lucknow University.

However, various applicants are agitated as they found out that the online application form of the LU cannot be submitted unless the applicants fill in their Aadhaar details and when they tried speaking to the examination coordinator on the matter, the administration of the university was unavailable.
