Lucknow University has started with its 100-year celebrations with a morning walk by the teaching staff and students from the Chhatrapati Shivaji sports ground on the campus. Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan, Khan Bahadur, of Mahmudabad, was the force behind starting of the Lucknow University.
Sir Harcourt Butler was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of the United Provinces. He formed a general committee of educationists, scholars and other eminent personalities in the university education in November 1919.
Durgesh Srivastava, Lucknow University spokesperson informed that a plantation drive will be organised and 100 saplings will be planted to mark the centenary year of the varsity.
TAs a part of the 100-year celebrations, visitors can visit the Anthropological Museum which is popular for its ancient artifacts of tribal culture collected from different parts of the country. Zoology and Geology museums will also remain open.

Some of the famous alumni of Lucknow University include Former Chief Justice of India, Justice AS Anand, Dayal Sharma, Novelist Qurratulain Haider, Senior Journalist Vinod Mehta, Renowned Cardiologist Dr. Naresh Trehan, Former Union Ministers Harish Rawat and NKP Salve among others.
Amrita Dass, Career Counsellor, who is a gold medalist from the varsity shared her experiences. She pursued MA (western history) from Lucknow University and has preserved her old ID cards. She informed that their classrooms were known as an academic cloister. Her most fond memories are of the Tagore library and canteen.
