Lucknow University’s gold medalist Komal Tiwari has asked the UGC and UP State Government to fund his education. Rae Bareli’s Komal Tiwari is a gem of Lucknow University. He topped his course and also emerged as the finest student among all post-graduate courses offered by the University.
Tiwari is a gold medalist and three-time winner of Lucknow University’s 20km marathon that is organized at the athletics meet. He will be conferred the Chancellor's Silver Medal at the convocation of LU on January 12.

His father is a farmer and the only earning member in the family whose crops have faced a bad time. Talking about the financial problems of his family, Tiwari said that produce of crops like potato and wheat have suffered a great loss. He also hopes that the medal will be able to help him to get an education fund.
Komal is currently pursuing MA in defence studies. He had submitted an online request to the PMO in September 2016 that was forwarded to the Union HRD Ministry and from there to Union ministry of finance. The Finance Ministry has clarified that they do not provide financial assistance.
They have further advised Komal to seek an educational loan through web-based portal named Vidya Lakshmi. It is a single window for students where they can access information and submit education loan applications.
Unable to apply for the loan, Komal asked SB Nimse, then-LU vice-chancellor back then to help him. Komal had only managed to pay his first-semester fee. After retrieving the information regarding Komal, Nimse waived off his tuition and hostel fee for the second semester.

He is now looking forward to meeting the new VC and request him to fund his education. He also added that even though his father couldn’t complete his education, he wants all his children to get proper education.
