Lucknow University Introduces CBCS System for Fine Arts Courses

  • Lucknow University’s College of Fine Arts and Crafts has introduced a new CBCS system at the undergraduate level in the Fine Arts courses.
  • The system will allow students to choose electives other than their core stream.
Lucknow University Introduces CBCS System for Fine Arts Courses

Lucknow University’s College of Fine Arts and Crafts has launched a new Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the undergraduate Fine Arts courses. This will allow the students to choose an elective paper which will give the students an opportunity to select their electives from some other stream also. Thus this system will be beneficial for the students who wish to study some other content along with their own.

First-year students will not have the privilege to use this CBCS system as the courses remain the same for all the students. However, students from second year onwards will be given choice to select their electives.

Students will be benefitted greatly with the Choice Based Credit System as it will provide them with the world of opportunities. With this system, a student is allowed to move to any educational institute globally. Transfer of earned credit is one of the provisions of the system. Also, creating the course curriculum and giving credits on the basis of the course content and teaching hours is flexible on CBCS system with the evaluation done semester wise.

  • Grading
  • Credit Systems
  • Semesters
  • Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation
  • Credit Transfer

In an interview with a leading daily, SP Singh, the Vice Chancellor stated that for the starting, the CBCS system has been introduced by the University's Fine Arts faculty for the new academic season and the system will also be launched for other undergraduate courses from the coming academic session.

A faculty member at the varsity added that at times a student who has opted for painting in their Bachelor courses wishes to study Sculpture, Illustrations or other subjects. To such students, it would be advantageous as they will be given a chance to go beyond the courses they have opted for.
