The number of candidates aspiring to become a teacher has increased this year. Lucknow University received around 4.6 lakh applications for the B.Ed Joint Entrance Examination 2017.
The examination was held today, 3rd May at 905 centres in 16 cities across the state of Uttar Pradesh. These cities included Varanasi, Moradabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Faizabad, Bareilly, Ballia, Azamgarh, Allahabad, Aligarh and Agra.
LU exactly received 4,64,676 applications forms for the available 1.90 lakh seats in 20,000 colleges in the state for B.Ed courses.

An official from the university revealed that the rise in the number of applicants from 3 lakh to 4 lakh this year is an indicator of the fact that the interest of students in the noble profession of teaching has increased in the state. Also, after the Seventh Pay Commission, the salary of government school teachers has increased manifold which has further attracted job seekers to take up the teaching profession.
The coordinator of the entrance test, Mr. Naveen Khare informed that there are a few candidates who could not upload their signature and photograph due to some technical issues but have filled the rest of the application form in step no. 3. He added that for these students, certain provisions had been made. They were allowed to write the examination in one of the centres in Lucknow where the arrangement of still photography is available.

The result of the entrance exam is expected to be declared by the last week of May and counselling process is likely to begin the first week of June.
