Non-fellowship students of Ph. D from Lucknow University staged protest outside the Vice-Chancellor's office on Monday. Students are demanding fellowship for themselves from the university which they were assured of by VC in 2015. VC is not present at the moment that is why students met Proctor Nishi Pandey who listened to their problem.
Abhishek Shukla, research scholar from department of English and Modern European Languages of the university told reporters that LU has failed to provide fellowship to its research scholars due to lack of initiative and policy.
in 2015, the university created a research corpus fund of Rs. 1 crore for non-NET (National Eligibility Test) research scholars who don't receive any financial assistance from the University Grants Commission. LU had decided to give a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month to each research scholar. “The university is increasing fee but it does not provide any facility to students, who are their last priority," said Abhishek.
