Lucknow University to Launch Courses in Craftsmanship

Lucknow University has collaborated with Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design (UPID) to start a course in Craftsmanship for a duration of a week or ten days in designing, craftsmanship and craft entrepreneurship.

Lucknow University is going to launch a course in Craftmanship through which students will get an opportunity to learn crafts entrepreneurship and designing. Experts from the field will train the students, and the course is expected to be launched in January 2017.

For this purpose, Lucknow University has collaborated with Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design (UPID). Through this course, the training will be given for a week or ten days in designing, craftsmanship and craft entrepreneurship. The primary objective of this collaboration is to bring out the hidden talents of students in fashion as well as crafts industry.

Prof. Nishi Pandey, co-ordinator of the course revealed that the varsity would conduct a workshop through which the students will be encouraged to take up a course in design and crafts. The students will be trained through a ‘visual merchandising.'

She further added that creativity is something that is not confined to a particular stream. For instance, a student pursuing a course in sciences can become proficient in arts and crafts too.

Zohra Chatterji, Chairman of UPID, mentioned that they would give support the varsity’s initiative and provide training for the students. The complete details about the course will be announced soon.

Nowadays, various universities and institutes across the country are launching a broad range of professional, vocational or certificate courses to develop the skills and employability rate among the students. On the other hand, premier institutes have already launched various Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) courses in management. These courses will paly a significant role in catering the needs of few sectors which are carving for the workforce.
