During the Maharashtra HSC and SSC examination 2019, the maximum number of cheating cases were reported from Aurangabad and Latur divisions.
Out of the total number of students who appeared in the Maharashtra HSC and SSC exams 2019, a total of 230 students were accused of cheating during the examinations while many more students were caught copying during the examinations in the cities of Aurangabad, Latur and Nagpur. Aurangabad had the largest number of students who were caught for malpractices in the examination hall. A staggering 83 students were cheating and 153 students were caught copying during the examinations. Whereas the students from the cities of Latur and Nagpur were comparatively low in terms of offences committed in the examination hall.
Students were mostly caught cheating in subjects like science and mathematics, for both the 10th and 12th class board examinations, as per a statement released by Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Examinations (MSBSHE). The officials also stated the more than half of the cases for cheating were from the cities of Aurangabad and Latur.

According to the official statement, examinations for Language subjects saw the least amount of malpractices being committed. In the previous years, there had been cases of students using electronic devices and social media platforms like WhatsApp, which were used to leak question papers. This year, however, the cases of leaked question papers were almost nil, except for one case in Bhiwandi where two question papers of different subjects had been leaked and even sold to the students.
There was a unique incident in Nagpur, where the police had arrested a gang that was concerned with tampering of the bar codes on the answer sheets of the students.

The highest cases of cheating in the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination were in Biology, Mathematics and Bi-Focal paper-I with over 50 cases of cheating. In the case of the class 10 board examinations, the subjects that had the highest number of cases for cheating were mathematics, science and social science papers with over 60 cases of cheating for all the papers.
