MAKAUT to Start Centralised Placement System for Technical Colleges

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) is planning to set up a centralized placement system and further replace the campus recruitment process across private and government engineering colleges in Kolkata. The University will set up 6 nodal centres in the state of West Bengal, apart from 3 placement offices in metro cities outside Bengal which are Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. It is also planning to start a staff training college in Haringhata campus along with a soft skill training cell. The mechanism of centralized placement will be based in six zones that will give a drift to the hiring of budding engineers.

These centres will provide training and placement services. The nodal centres will also serve as coaching centres for the students belonging to all minority categories of the university including SC/ST and OBC.

The implementation of the centralized placement system is with the help of the Association of Professional Academic Institutions (APAI). These centres will aid recruitment of students in bulk by acting as a facilitator between hiring companies and candidates.

The five nodal centres are to be set up in Seacom College - Howrah , SIT College - Siliguri , Dr. B.C. Roy College - Durgapur , Supreme College - Chandernagore , JIS College of Engineering - Kalyani . The sixth nodal centre will be located in the MAKAUT itself. Apart from the nodal centre, Supreme Knowledge Foundation will also act as a zonal centre for Midnapore and Hoogly.

According to the VC of MAKAUT, the main priority of these nodal centres will be innovation and business aspects. This will also help the students in their employability and after getting the training they will be able to help other set up their business.
