Manohari Devi Kanoi Girl’s College Dibrugarh has geared up to introduce Science Stream from this year at its second campus at Khalihamari. The college was established in 1963 and is one of the leading and foremost womens’ colleges in the state.
The campus has state-of-the art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory funded and set up by the State Government. Along with this, the college has many other facilities which include ramp for the differently-abled, laboratories, parking space, girls’ hostel, elevator, power back-up, CCTV, a large conference room etc.
Dr DK Bhuyan, Principal of the College, had taken the decision to purchase a plot for the Science stream which will now be set up in the second campus. The second campus was established in the year 2011. The construction of this campus was started in 2014 and is almost complete.
Bhuyan said that the science stream will have ten different subjects which will include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography, Home Science, Statistics and Computer Science. Major courses will be offered in Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Economics, Geography and Home Science. A plan to set up a digital library for the student in the campuss is also on, he said.
