Taking the lesser employment opportunities in IT sector of Bengal into consideration, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology has launched new job-oriented courses in all the private engineering colleges affiliated to the varsity. The new courses in B.Sc will be introduced for the upcoming academic session 2018-19. The duration of all these new courses will be three years

New B.Sc Courses Launched by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology: -
- B.Sc in Data Science and Data Analytics
- B.Sc in Stock Exchange Management
- B.Sc in Plastic and Polymer Waste Management
- B.Sc in Artificial Intelligence
- B.Sc in Culinary Sciences
- B.Sc in Real Estate
- B.Sc in Interior Decoration
Apart from the focus on IT-related courses , the varsity has also launched job oriented courses like Interior Decoration. The new courses will impart necessary skills to the students, and improve their chances of getting employed.

On the other hand, the varsity decided to launch these courses due to the poor enrolment of students in B.Tech courses. The demand for engineering courses in West Bengal has declined over the years due to fewer employment opportunities. Many students prefer to go outside of the state for pursuing engineering courses and search for employment. Therefore, the varsity has come up with more industry relevant courses to attract more students take up higher studies in the state. The varsity also wants to improve the employability of the students.
