MBBS in Telugu, Bengali and Other Indian Languages Soon

Higher education in the mother tongue is likely to be a part of the New Education Polic. MBBS aspirants will be soon able to pursue MBBS Telugu, Bengali and other Indian languages.

Indian students may now be able to pursue MBBS in their mother tongue. According to the reports, the development regarding the same was confirmed by two senior officials of the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.

The learning in the mother tongue is restricted to school. However, the courses at higher education levels are currently restricted to English and Hindi. The main objective to introduce MBBS , in Telugu, Bengali, and other regional languages are to encourage higher studies among the students. Many students discontinue higher education as it is restricted to English and Hindi and many students are just used to their mother tongue.

The inclusion of the mother tongue as a medium of studies in higher education will be done through the National Educational Policy (NEP). The other two senior officials also confirmed that policy is in its final stage and the changes will be seen once the policy is implemented.

The officials informed that through the inclusion of the mother tongue at the higher education level, they are planning to improve the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER). Through the improvement in GER in higher education will ensure that the students do not drop out of their studies midway.

Gross Enrolment Ratio popularly known as GER is defined as the percentage of people enrolled at a certain level of education over the eligible population of the country. For higher education, people between the age of 18 to 23 years form the base bool.
