The Medical Council of India has asked for a compliance report from Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in order to let it continue with the 100 M.B.B.S seats currently offered at the institution. It is noteworthy that the MCI had visited IGIMS on 28th January and had directed it for improvements in various aspects.
It has been reported that one of the main concerns of the MCI was 13 % faculty shortage at IGIMS. Also, IGIMS has been barred by the MCI from taking admissions in the anatomy and preventive and social medicine. The IGIMS authority has informed that a compliance report would be sent to the MCI by April 4th, 2016.
