Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) for setting up a new medical college in Odisha.
The 100-seat medical college will be constructed at Talcher district at an estimated Rs.492.62 crore. The construction work would commence from this year.
The MoU was signed by General Manager (CSR) B. B. Mishra for MCL and V. K. Goel, General Manager (Civil), NBCC, in the presence of A. N. Sahay, MCL chairman-cum-managing director.
According to MCL authorities, the state-of-the-art medical college on 20 acres will have separate academic and residential blocks with 300-bedded boys’ hostel, 200-bedded girls’ hostel, interns’ and nurses hostel.
The existing 115-bedded Nehru Shatabadi Central Hospital of MCL in Talcher will be upgraded to 500 beds for the upcoming medical college.
