The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has derecognised three of the postgraduate courses offered by the Management Development Insitute (MD), Gurgaon , one of the top-ranked NIRF 2020 b-schools . The AICTE order states that the programmes have been derecognised for violating the course duration norms set by AICTE. Withdrawal of the AICTE approval for these courses offered by MDI Gurgaon came on 30 June 2020.
Approved Courses at MDI Gurgaon Dropped Down to Five
Given below are the MDI Gurgaon courses that were derecognised:
Post Graduate Programme in Energy Management (PGP-EM)
Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGP-PPM)
This has brought down the total number of approved courses offered by the MDI Gurgaon to 5 and the approved sanctioned intake of MDI Gurgaon has dropped from 770 last year to 500 this year.

Courses Were Violating the Duration Norms
As per the information given in the AICTE order, the duration of these courses offered by MDI Gurgaon was found to be different than the approved duration of courses.
The PGP-EM and PGP-PPM were being offered for 15 months when the AICTE-approved duration is 24 months.
MDI was offering a 12-month PGDM course but the AICTE has approved a minimum duration of 15 months or 18 months for the Executive Management Programme.
The 2020 batch of the executive management programme at MDI Gurgaon started in April. 20 students had enrolled for the course. So far, neither AICTE not MDI Gurgaon has provided any clarity on what will happen to these students.
