The CM further said that the state will not be able to accept NEET based selection. It is because the schools in this Union Territory are not fully equipped to adopt the syllabus of CBSE. NEET is the criterion for selection into medical courses. The CM would reiterate the plea during his next visit to Delhi and will discuss with the Union Health Minister.

Right now, admissions to medical colleges including privately managed institutions in this UT state are done through Centralised Admission Committee and are based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the 12 th examinations. There are two state government-run medical colleges and seven private medical institutions in Puducherry.
