What’s the highest degree that you wish to pursue – an MBA or maybe a Ph.D. if you are very ambitious! Let’s agree for 3 to 4 degrees because we hardly make life-long education plans. But this individual seems to have outstripped every education record in the history of India by successfully pursuing 20 degrees courses from different universities.

Nagpur’s Shrikant Jichkar had set an immensely inspiring record in the field of education by achieving 20 degrees. Jichkar was born on September 14, 1954 in Nagpur District’s Katol. He belonged to a wealthy family with farming as their primary business.

Shrikant Jichkar’s Education:

Jichkar’s higher education continued for almost two decades i.e. from 1973 to 1990. During this period he appeared for 42 university examinations and successfully cleared 20 of them. He also secured first division for most of his exams and won several gold medals for his achievements in education.

Higher education was not his only field of excellence, Jichkar also cracked the IPS exam and resigned after a brief service. Later, he cleared the IAS exam and resigned from this post as well after serving office for a duration of four months to contest the first general elections.

He was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1980 and became the youngest politician in India at the age of 25.

Jichkar love for education and academics is also displayed through his huge collection of personal books that he kept in his library. He had more than 52,000 books.

He was named the most qualified person in India by the Limca Book of Records. Jichkar passed away on June 2, 2004, in a car accident at the age of 49. He continues to inspire Indian youth to diligently pursue education.
