The number of students opting for engineering courses in Maharashtra has been decreasing. For the past two years, the demand for B.Tech course has been declining. However, the officials of DTE claim that the number of colleges offering engineering courses is more than the number of students opting for the same. Every year, 60% seats are being filled, and 40% seats are remaining vacant. In 2016, around 50 technical institutes recorded fewer admissions, and these colleges are on the verge of closure. On the other hand, these colleges do not have required infrastructure and quality faculty.
