The Ministry of External Affairs signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship . The MOU has been signed to provide training in various skills for the Indian citizens who are seeking jobs abroad. This MOU has been signed as most of the Indians who are working in Gulf countries are being exploited by the companies in Gulf as they do not possess required skills and were paid fewer salaries. Minster of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj mentioned that every year around 7-8 lakh Indian citizens are going abroad every year. The emigrants will be trained under Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY).
Initially, it was the initiative of the ministry to implement this scheme in the previous five-year plan and through this MOU it will be implemented in the 12 th Five-year plan. The emigrants who are going abroad will be given training in various skills related to their role or designation. The MSDE is planning to start 50 training sectors for overseas skills by 15-July-2016 . These centers will commence their activities from 15-July-2016 as a part of World Skills Day.
The training will be given in various soft skills and communication skills also. The training will be offered through certificate system and international recognized assessment. The MEA is aiming to enhance overseas employment opportunities. This MOU will definitely realize the dreams of Honorable Prime Minister in transforming India into a skill capital of the world.
