The only English-Medium University of Gujarat, MS University of Baroda has admitted the record number of foreign national students in its courses in 2019-20. The number took a leap from the previous year’s statistics when 14 students took admissions. The university has said that still, 14 more foreign nationals are yet to take admissions. Most of the students have taken admission through the scholarships given by ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). Gujarat has 10% of the total students admitted through ICCR currently from as many as 157 countries in not only MSU but also various universities in India.
Last year, the MSU committee set up a team to research on the reasons for constantly falling rankings. Steps were taken to address the situation which resulted in this year’s gain and the remarkable achievement by the university. The report stated all the top universities in India has 15% to 20% of foreign students from outside the country. The report suggested to provide better infrastructure and attract foreign students to gain the rankings.
