Principals of the colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University added that the popularity of BAF courses has increased among students who seek careers in chartered accountancy . Other self-financed programmes like B.Com (Banking and Insurance) and B.Com (Financial Market), haven’t gained as much popularity as BAF.
These students find BAF courses more productive than regular B.Com courses as the syllabus of BAF courses is similar to the CA programmes hence those appearing for CA exams don’t have to prepare for BAF course exams separately. Also, BAF is a scoring course as students are familiar with it since class 12.
The university also recorded a rise in enrollment in the self-financed job-oriented as compared to plain courses like B.Sc. and B.Com. The Principals also claimed that the plain courses have reached a saturation in terms of enrollment.
