Colleges affiliated to Mumbai University have rejected the varsity’s idea to award compensatory marks to students whose answer sheets have been misplaced due to results mess in the examination department.
Earlier, the authorities of some of the affiliated colleges had written to the administration of Mumbai University seeking a solution that can end the nervousness of the students who are still waiting for the results of the last semester. Therefore, the University of Mumbai has decided to award bonus marks to students based on the marks scored in other subjects.

Affiliated colleges are highly dissatisfied with the decision of the varsity since it is a time taking process. A principal of one of the affiliated colleges pointed that compensating the students by awarding bonus marks for the misplaced answer sheets will downgrade the entire hard work of students without any reasonable criteria prescribed by Mumbai University.
Many students of Commerce stream are still waiting for the pending results while others are awaiting the re-evaluation results. Colleges have urged the varsity to announce the results at the earliest.

Recently, the examination department of the varsity announced that the misplaced answer sheets of 28,000 students have been traced while 1,600 are still missing. The varsity is yet to assess 9,000 answer sheets for which the process is underway.
The examination department has also received 46,000 applications for re-evaluation. Students who emerged as toppers in the previous semester have been left disappointed with the final results.
