Students from several city colleges have requested that Mumbai University delay all semester-end exams starting October 10. It was announced Tuesday morning that the university would be issuing a circular in this regard. Students from across the first, second and third years will take exams in this category. The revised dates will be announced soon by the authorities. The decision to postpone the exam was taken after a board of examination meeting. The exam is most likely to be scheduled after Diwali.
Dr Prasad Karande, In-charge Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluations at the MU said, "Following repeated demands from students, the exams have been postponed. All the exams will be held after Diwali".
Students from almost five city colleges wrote to Mumbai University about the postponement of the exam as they said that they did not get enough time and practice for a written-test exam in the long-form pattern. It is mostly because, for 2 years, they have given only MCQ-based exams. Moreover, they also claimed that the exam schedule was released at very short notice. Final-year science stream students from different city colleges also wrote to the varsity administration last week to request a postponement of exams.
Senate member affiliated to Yuva Sena gheraoed the acting director, Prasad Karande in his office, and sought postponement of the exam. Students from various other colleges gathered near Exam Bhavan to appeal to the university authorities.
